A baton / bite stick is often the ‘last line of defence’ against an attack so it has to work first time, every time – that’s why you need the assurance of the Peacekeeper range of batons / bite sticks.
CERT is proud to be the exclusive agents for the Peacekeeper brand of baton or bite-stick. Peacekeeper is the ultimate in extendable baton technology, design and manufacture making them the 'gold standard' for batons or bite-sticks.
One of the primary uses of a bite stick is that of a deterrent – i.e. that simply presenting the bite stick will deter an attack without it needing to be actually used. With its large size, Peacekeeper batons / bite sticks provide the ultimate in deterrent value. Of course, if a baton / bite stick does actually need to be used to strike a threat, the objective is to control and contain the situation as quickly as possible.
Multiple strike incidents not only put officers at increased risk, they also look terrible from a public perception point of view. Onlookers don’t see how hard an officer is striking, they only see how many times the officer strikes. An effective single strike will always look better than multiple ineffective strikes. The longer an incident takes to resolve, the greater the risk to everyone involved.
No officer wants to have to use a baton / bite stick, but if they do have to use it, they want it to be as effective as possible as quickly as possible – which is exactly what Peacekeeper batons / bite sticks offer.
Peacekeeper batons / bite sticks are available in the standard ‘Streamline’ model (21’ and 24’) and the ‘Push Button’ model (16’, 21’, 24’ and 26’). The Push button models offer the added benefit of push button locking and closing for ease of use and a built in glass breaker which retracts when the baton / bite stick is opened.
So what makes them so much better than other brands of batons / bite sticks?
Distal Weighting
The weight of the Peacekeeper batons / bite sticks is distributed in the distal half (striking area) of the baton / bite stick instead of in the handle. This provides rapid stopping power and less energy to achieve a higher impact.
In other batons / bite sticks the weight is distributed in the handle section. This leads to very inefficient energy transfer and striking power. Like a golf club or softball bat the weight should be in the head or striking end to maximise power!
A study by the University of Southern California showed the Peacekeeper Streamline batons / bite sticks were able to generate 50% more energy than competitor brands due to their advanced design.
Machined Strike Tube
Peacekeepers are the only expandable batons / bite sticks with machined strike tubes. All other expandable baton / bite stick manufacturers start with small tubes then “form and flare” the joint. This process stretches the steel from a small diameter tube to a larger flared tube which creates a thin and weak tube wall.
Peacekeeper starts with a larger diameter strike tube, which is then “machined or milled” for the entire length of the primary strike tube on a computerised lathe. This process maintains the same wall thickness from the tip of the tube, all the way through the joint of each baton / bite stick.
Larger Diameter Tubes
High quality, “machined” steel that will not bend like other batons / bite sticks – even when striking the hardest of surfaces. This also provides a much stronger and safer means to block or fend an attack.
Large End Cap
The large flat end cap is made from hardened steel. This enables the baton / bite stick to be extended (opened) by hand in a confined space such as a corridor.
